32. John W WHITE 1 was born in Oct 1789 in Pennsylvania, USA. He died on 24 Jul 1859 in Eaton, Delaware, Indiana, USA. He was buried in Jul 1859 in Liberty Township, Delaware, Indiana, USA. He married 2 Hannah MCDANIEL on 9 Apr 1810 in Butler County, Ohio. John was confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 22 May 2004 in CHICA - Chicago Illinois. [Parents]
I have documentation that places John W. in Ohio and lists him as being born in Pennsylvania. I believe he was from Lancaster County or thereabouts. I also have some knowledge that he is supposed to be a direct descendant of William White of the Mayflower Whites; however, I have not yet confirmed that.
According to the 1850 Census from Delaware County, Indiana, John W. was born October 1791. However, I have other family information that dates his birth as October 1789 ("A Portrait & Biographical Record of Delaware County, Indiana", pg. 576). He was born in Pennsylvania, according to the census records.
In 1850, he was living in Delaware County, Hamilton Township, Indiana, with his wife, Hannah, and youngest son, Samuel S.
In "A Portrait & Biographical Record of Delaware County, Indiana," Hannah was listed as having been born in Virginia in 1791. The book goes on to record the following information:
"After their marriage the couple [Hannah & John] moved to Butler County, Ohio, and in 1817 immigrated to Indiana, locating in Franklin County, where, in 1826, Mr. White purchased from the government 126 acres of land...John and Hanna white had a family of ten children, eight of whom lived to have families of their own, six of the number now living, namely: Thomas N. retired farmer of Decatur County, Indiana; Abigail, the wife of O. Reed; John D., Isaac, of Decatur County, this state; Hannah J., wife of William Eddings, and Samuel S., a resident of the state of Kansas." (pages 576-577)

Darlene,
You have posed several questions that have been on the table for some time. I have been working with another researcher for 4-5 years on some of these questions and it will be interesting to see what might come out of the Butler County Board. I would be more than glad to brief you on our progress with this family and perhaps get a little more current on the family line of John D. You can contact me directly at dcwhite@zoomtown.com <mailto:dcwhite@zoomtown.com> .

JOHN McCLAINE.
Among the pioneers who had the courage to cast their fortunes in theheart of the wilderness, and the energy to wage deadly warfare with itsgiant trees, staning in formidable and defiant array, was the subject ofthis sketch. He was born September 28, 1808, in Mason County, WestVirginia, and, while yet an infant, removed with his father, ArchibaldMcClaine, to Greeup County, Kentucky, settling near Greenupburg, thecounty seat. About ten years later, the family removed to Athens County,Ohio, where John grew to manhood, working in the meantime on his father'sfarm, until he reached the age of twenty-one years. He married MissCelia Weatherbee, and he and his bride decided to move father west, whereland were cheaper than in Ohio, and accordingly they settled in WayneCounty, Indiana, near Richmond. Learning of the good quality and lowprices in Delaware County, Mr.McClaine decided to remove hither andpurchase a tract of land direct from the Government. So, in 1835, hepurchased a tract in Section 13, Union Township, to which he removed in1836. Here he spent the best days of his early manhood, in the labor ofclearing and improving his farm, and here he has prosecuted the vocationof farming for nearly forty-five years, enjoying, in the "sear and yellowleaf" of his life, a competence well earned by years of toil.
He has been a prominent and highly repected citizen of his township fromthe first; and, although not identified with any religious denomination, his life is full of the true spirit of Christianity which has socharacterized his dealings with the world, that all unite in pronouncinghim one of "God's noblest works"--an honest man.
If the identity of the pioneer men of a county with its growth andimprovement is inseparable from its history, the same is true in quite asmarked a degree, of its pioneer women. Their earnest, willing assistance, their fortitude, and their words of encouragement in the struggle withthe wilderness, and the hardships of life in its midst, had much to dowith cheering the hearts of their sturdy husbands. They had their ownburdens to bear, and at the same time shared those of the companions withwhom they had linked their destinies by the ties of matrimony; and, iftheir influence upon the development of the country was quiet, it wasnone the less potent, and quite as commendable as the trying physicallabor of their husbands, by whose hands the forests were cleared away, and the wilderness transformed into fertile fields.
One of this class was Celia, the wife of John McClaine. She is thedaughter of John and Elizabeth Weatherbee, and was born September 11,1813, in Athens County, Ohio. At the age of sixteen years, in 1829, shegave her heart in marriage to the companion whose life, by a kindProvidence, she is still spared to bless. She has ever been a truehelp-meet to him, and, by her economy and careful management, hascontributed greatly to his worldly prosperity. She is a devoted wife andmother, a kindly, helpful neighbor, and has endeared herself to thehearts of all who know her.
This worthy couple were the parents of twelve children, named, respectively, James, Rhoda, Elizabeth A., Archibald, John, Charles,William H., George W., Joseph, Lydia J., Sarah A. and Samantha. Lydia isthe wife of W. H. Younts, attorney, at Eaton, Ind.; Rhoda was killed, in1849, by a limb that fell from a tree in the woods, near the present siteof the father's residence; James, Elizabeth A., Joseph and Sarah A. aredeceased. In the 1850 census, her birthplace is listed as Kentucky. In the 1860 census, Susan's birthplace is listed as Ohio.
A researcher in Ohio sent me a list of all the McClelland families listed in the 1820 Ohio census:
Darlene
These are the McClelland families listed for Ohio in 1820. On the other hand, the census image for 1850 says Susan was born in Kentucky, see attached. Naturally 1860 doesn't agree and says Ohio.

Dear Evelyn, Since the explosion of information on the Internet, we have had so many inquiries that we have had to post the following to most: Thank you for your recent inquiry and information on your relationship to our family. We encourage all Borror descendants to join our Borror Family Association and to subscribe to our Borror's Corners Newsletter. The BFA is now in the process of publishing a three- volume book onwhat has been gathered to date about the family. Hopefully, information from you and answers to your thoughtful inquiry will inable us to learn much more about our history. Perhaps we will be able to incor-porate your information and the further research we would need to do in answer to your questions in a future volume or addendum. Thank you for your interest and loyalty to our great Borror family. I did not send that note to you because we needed so much to investigate again the possibility that the Hannah Borror who married Elias Stump was indeed, a daughter of Charles. As you can see, it has taken quite awhile for us to get that done.Illness, the difficulty in getting any secretarial help and the busyness of the holidays have really put us far behind. We have all the same records you do about the probable relationship but have no proof of the connection. That, withthe fact that she is not mentioned as the daughter of Charles in any family histories or records that are extant, has kept us from listing her as a daughter of Charles. It is quite true, however, as you are aware, that children who died ata young age in our early families have often been omitted, which is very sad. I wonder if Hannah might be one of Charles's half Shawnee (or another Indian family) children? Our family traditions (we have no proof either!) clearly indicate that Martin, son of Charles, had an Indian mother. We also see the facial characteristics of the American Indian show up in his descendants. Martin had high, prominent cheekbones and broad upper face as seen in his old faded photograph. Ihave a second cousin who is a remarkable "look a like" and one of my own great-granddaughters has the exact beautiful face that is seen in so many paintings of the Cherokees and Shawnees, both of which once lived on the lands of our ancestors. As you may know, Charles's Revolutionary War assignment was to fight the Indians who were bothering the settlers on the western front, now West Virginia and eastern Ohio. He was discharged in 1782 and none of his children were bornuntil the next year (as far as we know). His wife, shown as "Sidney Wees" in family records, has been a mystery to us and could well have been Indian (or perhaps only half Indian) because all efforts to relate her to any Wees/Weese/Weise families in the area have been in vain. There is so much we simply do not know. We will be glad to list Hannah as the probable daughter of Charles. We have certainly found no one else to "claim her." Thank you for your patience with usand if you can add anything else to our history, please let us know. Lillian
